Ruth Marshall Oliveira, 88 of Dugspur, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Ruth Yvonne Marshall was born in Coatesville, PA on June 16, 1937, the youngest of nine children to parents Walter W. Marshall and Grace Sutphin Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Hal, Ray, Bernard, Virgil, Lucille, Ethlyn, June, Ralph, two grandsons, Jesse Daniel and Ian Reed, nephews Wade Wells and Jan Thorsten and nieces Judy Berger, Cynthia Elder and Mary Lynn Mathieu.
At age 13, Ruth was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Coatesville, PA and confessed Jesus as her Lord and Savior, reserving her heavenly dwelling place that Jesus prepared for her.
Ruth met her future husband, Anthony at Coatesville Senior High School and both graduated in 1955. She was a foreign exchange student and spent part of her senior year in Germany. In 1958 Ruth graduated from Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing and had a long career as a registered nurse in PA and VA.
Ruth and Anthony were married in Parkesburg, PA on June 20, 1959 and to this union they had three sons: Stephen in 1960 and twins Mark and Walter in 1962. She is survived by her husband Anthony, sons Stephen (Annette), Mark, and Walter (Stephanie), grandson Ross (Elena), great grandchildren Emma and Jesse. She is also survived by nieces Evelyn Hoult, Carolyn Boyer, Barbara Arent, Carol Ingram, Sandra Thompson, Becky Goebert, Linda Coates, Ruth Marcum, Gail Lindberg, Jane Clary, Anne Oliveira, and nephews E. Gary Marshall, Blake Marshall, David Marshall, Buddy Mayberry, Barry Mayberry, John Oliveira, and Michael Oliveira. Numerous great nieces and nephews also survive her.
Ruth was devoted to her family, loved her country, and was a forever gardener who thoroughly enjoyed working outside. As evidence by the underlining, pictures, and comments in her Bible, she was in daily conversation with God, led by the Holy Spirit, and a lover of her Savior Jesus Christ.
