Ruth Lawson Oakley, 78, of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Trinity Mission of Hillsville. Mrs. Oakley was born in Galax, Virginia to the late Willie and Plania Lawson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Junior Oakley.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Phyllis Oakley of Hillsville; Dennis Oakley of Hillsville, and David Oakley of Hillsville; sisters, Betty Story of Chilhowie, Cathleen Cox of Galax, and Etheleen Akers of Roanoke; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Pickett Cemetery at 12:00 PM with Pastor Dennis Trail officiating. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Thursday from 10:30 until 11:30 AM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
