Rush A. Fariss, 93 of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows. Mr. Farris was born in Carroll County to the late John & Allie Worrell Fariss. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Hattie T. Farris. He is survived by step daughter & spouse Nadean & Odell Turman of Dugspur; step son & spouse W.J. & Carol Sutphin of Morganton, NC; ten step grandchildren; twelve step great grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the Martin and Fariss Cemetery at 1:00 PM with Rev. S.G. Bolt officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
