Rush Gardner Allen, 96 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Woltz Hospice Home.  Mr. Allen was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Daniel W. and Rosie M. Vass Allen.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Ann Allen.

Mr. Allen served in the Navy during World War II.  He was the owner of D.W. Allen and Son Mechanical Contractors.  In his free time, Rush was an avid golfer and loved to travel.

Survivors include several nieces; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Lynn and Sara Rucker.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the VA nurses and to Amy Dalton for all the care they provided for Mr. Allen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Dalton Hill Christian Church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Keith Hommema officiating.  Burial will follow in the Dalton Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
