**THIS IS A COURTESY OBITUARY FOR THE MULLINS FAMILY** Rufus L. (R.L.) Mullins, age 75 of Pound, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Holston Valley Medical Center, in Kingsport, TN. He was born September 12, 1937 in Dickenson County, VA to the late Evans Tiller and Eliza Ruth Hill Mullins. He was also preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Ventro, and brothers, James Edward Ventro, Dale Ventro, and Rev. Bob Mullins. R.L. is survived by his wife, Vera L. Mullins, of the home; children and spouses, Rhonda and Dewey Salyers, Pound, VA, Vickie L. King, Randleman, NC, Tony R. and Tilda T. Mullins, Hillsville, VA, and Joe and Terri Mullins, Randleman, NC; eight grandchildren and spouses J.W. and Amber Salyers, Eric and Amanda Salyers, Ashley King, Benjamin Mullins, Stephanie King, Nathaniel Mullins, Jordan Mullins, and Kaitlyn Mullins; five great grandchildren Trey, Jayla, Carlee, Brayden, and Lukas; brothers, Larry Ventro and Greg Ventro, Coeburn, VA, and Shane Ratliff, Milton, FL; and sisters and brothers-in-law Rita Maggard, Toni and Donnie Delaney, Sue and Leon Mitchem, all of Milton, FL, and Eleanor and Otis Jackson, Chesapeake, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Baker Funeral Home, in Pound, VA with Rev. Roger Freeman, Rev. Billy Hibbitts, and Rev. Allen Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Short Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel with a song service at 7:00 PM.
