Ruby Thomas, 82, of Meadows of Dan passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Thomas; parents, Ellis and Lila Dalton Goad; son, Ronnie Thomas; three brothers and one sister. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Arlie and Tari Thomas of Meadows of Dan; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Michael Nester of Martinsville; sisters, Ivory Bell Dalton of Dugspur, Betty Carter of Dugspur, Jeannie Nester of Dugspur, Opal Alderman of Hillsville, Ann Akers of Kernersville, NC, and Margie Nester of Florence, SC; brother Douglas Goad of Martinsville; five grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Dustin Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Goad Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Thomas family.
