Ruby Irene Shepherd, 89 of Laurel Fork, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows. Born in Carroll County, Ms. Shepherd was the last descendent of the late Homer Huel & Lily Ota Collier Shepherd. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Iris Ann Dalton Allen; brothers Foy Shepherd, Robert Shepherd, Homer Shepherd, Jr. and Elwin Shepherd; and a sister Charlene Gardner. Ms. Shepherd is survived by a daughter Peggie Dalton Nester of Laurel Fork; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Laurel Fork Cemetery with Rev. Clarence Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Peggie Dalton Nester at any time.
