Obituary

Ruby Alma Phillips, 77 of Willis, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Floyd County to the late William Oscar and Jessie Largen Matherly. Ruby is the wife of retired owner and mother of current owner of the Boonville Flour and Feed Mill in Boonville. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband Sammie Phillips of the home; daughter & son-in-law Linda & Roy Lee Amburn of Hillsville; sons & daughters-in-law Eugene & Vicky Phillips of Indian Valley and Marcus & Donna Phillips of Hillsville; sister Opal Jones of Christiansburg; three grandchildren Crystal Casstevens, Kevin Phillips and Abby Turman; seven great grandchildren Curtis Hutson, Dakota Casstevens, Dylan Casstevens, Bryan Phillips, Jared Phillips, Cailyn Turman and Clayton Turman; sisters-in-law Eula Tate and Margaret Matherly; brothers-in-law & spouses Rudolph Phillips, Gerald & Wanda Phillips, Carlos Phillips and Donnie & Cenie Phillips; four step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Mitchells Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Don Sizemore, Pastor Jerry Blevins and Rev. Harvey Carico officiating. Mrs. Phillips will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Mitchells Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Thursday night from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
