Roy Montgomery, 72, of Hillsville went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg. Mr. Montgomery was a life member of the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115; he served in the Korean War from 1963 to 1965. Roy was an accomplished hunter, fisherman, trapper, beekeeper, and gardner. Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his father, James Montgomery; twin brother, Ray Montgomery. He is survived by his wife, Arba Jean Montgomery of the home; mother, Helen Stilwell Montgomery of Allisonia; brother, Archie J. Montgomery of Allisonia. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Chris Carlisle, and Rev. Eugene Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at the Dry Pond Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
