Rosie Barnard Cox, 97, of Fancy Gap, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows. Mrs. Cox was born in Patrick County to the late Robert Edward and Georgia Rose Wood Barnard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence C. Cox; son, Brewster E. Cox; daughter, Janice Caroline Cox; and ten brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughters, Ola Dickson of Galax, Myrna Austin of Stuart, Elsie Watkins of Florida, and Vina C. Stout of Fancy Gap; brother, Franklin Barnard of Laurel Fork; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. A graveside service with burial following will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 AM with Pastor Shawn Carter officiating. There will be no visitation. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
