Rosemary Stilwell Surratt, age 93, of Hillsville, Virginia passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Commonwealth Assisted Living in Hillsville, Virginia. Mrs. Surratt was born on July 4, 1930 in Caretta, West Virginia to Norman and Juanita Mitchell Stillwell. In addition to her parents Mrs. Surratt was preceded in death by her husband James Lionel Surratt, Sr.; her sister Frieda Ann Stilwell and her brother Russell Stilwell.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Judy Gravley, and Sue Lynn Porterfield (Don); son and daughter-in-law, James Lionel (Jimmy) Surratt, Jr. (Jackie). Her grandchildren and spouses, Gretchen Gravley Tucker, Graham Gravley (Rena), Keenan Porterfield, and Rachel Porterfield Wortham (Mac) and Ilyn Rose Surratt. great-grandchildren, Gracen and Granger Tucker, Nolan and Nico Gravley, and Wyatt Wortham.

Our family would like to give special thanks to the Hillsville Commonwealth Assisted Living family for all of their care, love, and support not only to mother, but also to our entire family.

Our gratitude is also extended to Mountain Valley Hospice and all their staff who graciously helped and comforted us in our time of need.
