Obituary

Ronnie Ray Turman from Laurel Fork, Virginia and born April 3, 1951, went to be with Jesus on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence H. Turman; and brothers, Kenneth L. Turman, C. Arvin Turman, and David Wayne Turman.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Frances Turman; mother, Virginia Sutphin Turman; sisters Dana Martin (Donald), and Lois Graham (Milton); and sister-in-law, Linda Thompson; nieces, Tracy Haynes (Joe) and Christy Sharpe (Jerry); great niece, Skyler Haynes; nephews, Ricky Thompson (Dee), Randy Thompson (Jenny); great nephew, Jesse Haynes; uncle, H. Dean Sutphin (Diane J); and aunts, Nelda T. Nester and Lockie M. Turman. Several cousins also survive.

Ronnie worked as a machinist and tool and die maker at Micrometrics Machine Company in Meadows of Dan for 25 years. He then retired from Xaloy in Pulaski, Virginia. Ronnie was known for his kindness, willingness to help others and his sense of humor.  He loved running the family farm and was always involved in a project.  He enjoyed building his own water wheel, making grandfather clocks, running his sawmill, repairing farm equipment, etc. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years, his family and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Shawn Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Albert E. Sutphin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Wednesday, from 9:00 until 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers and food, donations may be made to Laurel Fork Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of your choice. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Turman family.
