Ronald Lee
Coulson
September 16, 1946 – February 17, 2023
On February 17th, 2023, the time came for our loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, grandpa, cousin, and friend, Ronald Lee Coulson to leave his earthly duties behind and enter into his eternal resting place in heaven. With his loving family by his side, we celebrate the legacy that he left behind. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Zella Coulson of 54 years and 10 months, his loving daughter, Stacy Renee Dalton (husband Marty), precious grandson Martin "Ty" and granddaughter Elly Renee. He also leaves behind his loving sister, Linda Lindsey (spouse Marcus), nieces: Lauren Gunnell-Beck (spouse Scott), Kim Poole,
Michelle Burnette (spouse Cookie), Victoria Poe (spouse Justin), nephews: Dustin Jenkins, Gregg Poole, Josh Beckner (spouse Leslie), Jody Poole (spouse Tiffany), Brad Poole (spouse Holly), and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins and special friends including Bobby Bowers. He was preceded in death by parents Earthel and Cecil Coulson, first cousin Terry Edwards, and niece Suzanne Russell.
During his lifetime, Ronnie always loved to make those around him feel loved and brought a smile to their face. Ronnie was raised and developed a love and appreciation for farming his family's acreage in Hillsville, Virginia. He helped his father make the transition from dairy farming to beef farming, in addition to growing countless crops. His favorite pastime was sitting on his back porch watching the deer roam the farm. In his early twenties, Ronnie served in the Army Reserves after completing schooling at Ferrum College and Draughon's business college in Winston-Salem, NC. Ronnie found a wonderful career and developed many friendships during his 30 year long tenure at Volvo Trucking Company in Dublin, Virginia. He was able to enjoy amazing adventures on his Soft-tail Sportster Harley Davidson.
After retiring from Volvo at the age of 65 years old, he and Zella enjoyed the many trips to Harker's Island and the Outer Banks. Many days were spent out on the ocean in their boat fishing the deep seas and making special memories. Countless memories were shared reminiscing of all their many friends made over the years within the camping communities at the beach and lake. When they weren't fishing the seas, they were competing as a team in bass tournaments and traveling. He loved meeting and greeting the many folks that visited he and Zella's tanning salon over the years. Many special memories were also shared watching and enjoying NASCAR racing as a family and cheering on their favorite drivers.
The family would like to extend an invitation for guests to join us for a celebration of life memorial service on Monday, February 20th, 2023 at 11am at Woodlawn Methodist Church officiated by Pastor Jeff Pickett and Pastor Dina Clower. Military rights will be carried out by Hillsville VFW Post 1115 with cousin Judith Lineberry and Linda Bartlett playing Taps. Visitation will continue after the service concludes in the church fellowship hall with a meal. Special thanks to Vaughn-Guynn-McGrady Funeral services for their guidance and assistance throughout this process. A guestbook is available on-line by visiting www.vaughanguynnandmcgradycom.
