Robert Samuel "Sam" Sexton, 86 of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at his home.  Mr. Sexton was born in Superior, WV to the late Weldon W. and Gladys Marie Kemp Sexton.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, AJ Bain; and brothers-in-law, Melvin Buckner, Arlas Parnell, and J. D. Thomason.

Sam joined the Navy in 1957. Later in life he became manager for Newhoff Farms for approximately 20 years.  He loved life on the water, fishing and golf.  Sam could build and fix anything and was a jack of all trades.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Lou Sexton; children, Shirley Bain and Debbie and Dennis Hooven; grandchildren, Jennifer and Josh Hill and Skylar Bain; great-grandson, Grant Robert Hill; sisters, Alice Thomason, Carolyn Parnell, and Phyllis and Jerry Frazier; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Sky View Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Wendell Horton officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the memorial service.  A private graveside service will be held at the Shockley Cemetery at a later date.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
