Robert (Bob) Morgan, 68, of 42 Wildcat Rd. Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Morgan was born in High Point, NC., to the late Robert Donald and Doris Ormand Morgan.

Mr. Morgan served in the united states army. He was a staff Sgt. in the infantry 3 years' active duty/Vietnam, where he was awarded a bronze star and 2 purple hearts, 8 years Galax Reserves. He was involved in many organizations in the community such as; Captain of the CB Alert System, The Christmas Chest, Hillsville Rescue Squad and a CPR instructor. He was a member of the Briar Patch Radio Club and was a Scoutmaster and District Commissioner for the MT. Empire where he organized troop 810 at the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church. While resident of the Green Valley, AZ he was president of the home owner's association and was instrumental in forming a new church in the area. He was a volunteer veteran who assisted veterans in getting their benefits. He was past council chairman of the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife, Jane Moody Morgan of the home, his children, Donnie Morgan and wife, Penny of Hillsville and Steve Morgan of Hillsville. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Rebekah Morgan, Hannah Morgan, Elijah Morgan, Austin Morgan and Alec Morgan and a brother, Dennis Morgan and wife, Arlene of Elk Creek.

A Celebration of Mr. Morgan's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church with the Pastor Terry Gregory officiating followed by Military Rites performed by the Grayson V.F.W. Post 7726.
