Robert Franklin "Bob" Jett, 77, of Hillsville, passed away suddenly at his home on May 27th, 2015. He was a warm, caring and loyal father, son, brother, uncle, friend and Hokie. Bob was born March 7th, 1938 to Clinton C. Jett and Mary T. Jett. He graduated from Hillsville High School in 1958. He married the love of his life, Barbara Carpenter Jett in February 1961. He is survived by his son, Franklin M. Jett of Galax, mother Mary T. Jett of Laurel Fork, sister and brother-in-law Dianne and Richard Raymond of Roanoke, sister-in-law Christine Beck of Hillsville, brother-in-law, Roger G. Carpenter, his wife Phyllis and their children, Tyler and Haley of Galax, nephews, Eddie Beck, his wife Kristen, and their children, Jamie, Sadie, and Sydney of Johnson City, Tn., Mike Beck, his wife Megan, and their children Maggie and Miller of Kernersville, N.C., Pat Beck and wife Nikki of Wilkesboro, N.C., James Atkins, his wife Libby, and their children Josh and Abigail of Ferrum, Niece, Gwynn Atkins of Roanoke, very special cousins, Erroll Rhea Jett and Lois Jean "Jo Ann" McGrady of Hillsville, special friend and caregiver, James Goad of Hillsville. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Barbara Carpenter Jett, father Clinton C. Jett, father-in-law, Gilmer Carpenter, mother-in-law, Amanda Carpenter and brother-in-law, James H. Beck. Bob was a member of the Kazim Shrine Temple in Roanoke since1964 and a member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 A.F. & A.M. since 1962. Bob formed the Kazim Hillbillies Unit in 1976. Bob and his wife Barbara owned and operated Bob's Ladies and Menswear of Hillsville and Cana until Barbara's death in 2007. Bob was a longtime member of the Hillsville Presbyterian Church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Carter Wright and his staff at North Carolina Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, N.C. for the last 8 years of wonderful care. Their skill and compassion were greatly appreciated. The funeral service will be Sunday, May 31st, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville with the Rev. Kevin Campbell and Pastor David Bays officiating. Inurnment will follow at the North End Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be performed by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 A.F. & A.M. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 30th,2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
