Robert Reed Fender, 63 of Woodlawn, VA passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Wythe County Community Hospital.  Mr. Fender was born in Maryland on November 7, 1959.  He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Fender; sisters, Doris Lineberry and Barbara Fender; nephew, Avery Newman; brother-in-law, Larry Funk; and cousin, Robert Viars.

Survivors include his son, Jason Fender and wife, Shelly; mother, Bobbie Newman Fender; grandchildren Hunter, Gage and Lane; sisters, Kimberley Cox and Kathy Funk.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Blue Ridge Cancer Center, Wythe County Community Hospital, and Blue Ridge Home Health (especially Christy) for their care and support.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Elder Ronald Bowman and Douglas Sharpe officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery with Jason, Hunter, Greg, Travis, Mason, Jackson, Harley, Michael, Brock and Dustin serving as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Autism Partnership Foundation. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
