Robert Alvin Dalton, 90, passed away on Friday April 24, 2009 at Waddell Nursing Home in Galax, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents James Roscoe & Elva Mae Jennings Dalton; three brothers Ivan Dalton, Kenneth Dalton, & Guy Dalton; He is survived by his wife Mary Frances Dalton of the home; sons and daughter-in-law Robert Cellell & Susan Dalton of Wytheville, VA, Jerry Ray Dalton & Bonnie Of Ashland NY, Kenneth Lee Dalton of Hillsville; daughter & son-in-law Linda & Gary Marshall of Hillsville; three brothers Clarence Dalton, J.B. Dalton all of Hillsville, & Edgar Dalton of Roseville Michigan; sister Anna Belle Whitaker of Sparta Tennessee; half brothers Conard Dalton, Ferlin Dalton, Olen Dalton, Don Dalton, & Richard Dalton all of Dugspur, VA; half sisters Inda Mae Quesenberry of Woodlawn, Ocie Supthin, Kay Gardner of Dugspur, VA, Winnie Gay Staples of Hillsville, Sue Easter of Cana, VA, & Kathy Rothgeb of Appomattox VA; four grandchildren John Marshall, Robbie Dalton, Joey Marshall & Crystal Cochran; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Jennings Family Cemetery with pastor David Bays officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Vaughan Guynn McGrady chapel is serving the family.
