Rita Jessie Rector Bunn, 100, of Fancy Gap, VA passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Hillsville Rehabilitation Healthcare Center in Hillsville, VA. She was born December 9, 1916 at Crooked Creek, VA to the late Bennett and Izora Stoneman Rector.

Rita will be remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a member of the Fancy Gap United Methodist Church where she was active in the many church activities including a life member in the WSCS. She also served on many women's committees of Carroll County Farm Bureau and the Carroll Southern States Cooperative.

Rita was a people person who avidly clipped newspaper articles or obituaries on everyone she ever knew. Family and community relationships were important to her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Rufus G. Bunn, brothers Lonnie, Garth, John, Rupert, and Irvin Rector, and sisters Floy, Grace, and Norma. Left to cherish her memory are a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Ruth Bunn, daughter Joyce Bunn; four grandchildren and spouses, Kim and Allen Robinson, Brian and Beth Bunn, Brett and Jennifer Bunn, and Joel and Amy Bunn. She is also survived by her nine great grandchildren, Austin Bunn and wife Lauren, Jon Robinson and friend Katie Mireles, Kymbre Robinson and friend Andrew Simmons, Emily Bunn, Erin Bunn, Vivian Bunn, Ephraim Bunn, Gavin Bunn, and Markus Bunn.

The family expresses special gratitude to caregivers Crystal Savage and Brenda Webb and to Hillsville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for care and support during the last months.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Kaye Seay officiating. Interment will follow in the Independence Cemetery in Fancy Gap. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Flowers will be appreciated or in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Independence Cemetery in care of Gene Bunn 5281 Stable Road, Hillsville, VA 24343.
