Slusher
December 12, 1960 – June 11, 2018
Rickey Glen Slusher, 57, of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 at his home. Mr. Slusher was born in Winter Park, FL to the late Donald Price and Ruth Quesenberry Slusher. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Slusher and a nephew, Jordan Slusher.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Slusher of the home; daughter, Jessica Slusher of Austinville; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Beth Slusher of Hillsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donnie and Nancy Slusher of Bedford, Tom and Joy Slusher of Hillsville, and Randall and Melissa Slusher of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Malachi Slusher, Serenity Slusher, and Ashton Adkins; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Gloria Reece of Indian Valley; brothers-in-law and spouses, Thomas Reece and Dina of Hillsville and Dennis Reece and Jill of Christiansburg; and nieces, Jenny Krantz, Ashley Devers, and Dionna Reece.
Rick owned and operated Island Creek Recording Studio in Hillsville, VA. He was a draftsman and land surveyor for Slusher's Surveying for over 30 years. Using his musical talents, he formed the southern gospel groups The Gospel Builders and The New River Boys. Most recently Rick played in the Praise Band at First United Methodist Church in Hillsville, VA. He enjoyed going on mission trips, especially to Peru, to share the gospel through music and by helping with building projects.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Kermit Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
