Richard O. Marshall, 72, of Hillsville, went home to be with God on January 7, 2015. Mr. Marshall was born in Carroll County to the late Stephen Cassell and Nettie Irene Howlett Marshall. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved son-in-law, Adam Ashton, and a brother, Steve A. Marshall. Survivors include his wife, Mildred M. Marshall of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Roxana and David Kamoda, Rhonda Marshall, and Ramona Ashton all of Hillsville; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Lauren and Colin Kamoda and Amber, Avery, and Alexxis Ashton; and siblings and spouses, Wilma and Ralph Pyrtle of North Carolina, Irene and Garnett Rakes, Donald Marshall, Rex and Beverly Marshall, Joe and Mary Marshall and Glenn and Sue Marshall, all of Hillsville. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at 7:00 PM with Elder David Kamoda and Rev. Dewey Felts officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Isaac Banks Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to go towards medical bills. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
