Richard Gene "Hound Dog" Smith, 57 of Hillsville, passed away on April 6, 2015 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Smith was born in Florence, AL to the late Wallace Arnold and Norma Jean Robinson Smith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Perez; and brothers, Henry Earl Smith and Paul Ray Smith. Survivors include his wife, Gloria M. Smith of the home; children, Selena Thompson of Florence, AL, Kevin Smith of AL, Ginger Carroll of TX, James Lehman, Jr. of Hopewell, VA, and John Lehman of Hillsville; siblings, James Arnold Smith of IL, Carolyn Sue Behel of AL, Wallace Evie Smith of AL and David Wayne Smith of AL. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Jimmy Harmon officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
