Richard Mark Akers

On September 2, 2026, God called his beloved son, Richard Mark Akers home. Richard was born in Welch, West Virginia on March 29, 1966. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Howard Akers and a nephew, Jamie Lineberry.

Survivors include his mother, Theda Akers; brother, Michael Akers; sister, Tammy Kuelbs (KK); niece, Amber Akers; nephews, Steven Akers, Ethan Lineberry (Maria), Timothy Akers, and Christopher Akers; great-nieces, Maliah Ladd, Makenna Scott, and Nora-leigh Lineberry; and great-nephews, Isaiah Ladd, Wyatt Marrs, and Bentley Akers.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 10:00 AM with his cousin, John Dash and Joe Bagatta officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 until 10:00 AM prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Bluefield on Tuesday at 1:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
