Obituary

Rhudy Talmadge Harmon, 98, of Austinville passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was a retired watchmaker. Mr. Harmon served proudly in the U.S. Navy as a diesel mechanic during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Thelma Lawson Harmon, his parents, brothers and sisters. Survivors include son and daughter in-law, Reiford Talmadge and Louise Q. Harmon of Hillsville; granddaughter Shannon Jones and friend Marc Hicks of Hillsville; grandson, Anthony Shane Harmon of Hillsville; sister in-law, Marie Harmon. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Elder Ronald Bowman and Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Monta Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery in Galax, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the funeral home from six until eight. The family request that no food please. Flowers will be appreciated but the family prefers a memorial be made to your favorite church or to the wounded warrior program. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
