Obituary

Rex Rudy Hancock, 90 of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at his home. Mr. Hancock was born in Carroll County to the late Curtis Mullins and Annie Roxy Hicks Hancock. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sisters Regina Hancock and Elaine Howbert and infant sister, Rebecca Hancock; and brother, Jerry Hancock.

Mr. Hancock graduated from Hillsville High School in 1948. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was a truck driver for McLean Trucking, then later for Anchor Motor Freight. When he retired, he became a business owner of the Hillsville Exxon.

Survivors include his wife, Joann Hancock; sons, Bobby Wilson and Jeff Hancock; daughter, Dawn Quesenberry; grandchildren Blaine Hancock and Colin Hancock; brothers, Daryl Hancock and Daniel Hancock; and sisters, Donna Hancock and Gayle Chapman.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bill Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church of Hillsville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
