Obituary

Raymond Claston Sumner, 90, of Woodlawn, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Grayson Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Sumner was born in Carroll County to the late Cleavland and Minnie Belle Carico Sumner. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Nina Jones Sumner of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Nick Smilek of Powhatan and Judy and Frank Cummings of Galax; sister, Myrtle Frances Teague of Texas; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Elder Edward Bowman and Elder Ronald Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
