Raymond Matthews, 79 of Woodlawn, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at his home. Mr. Matthews was born in Surry County, NC to the late Clarence Raymond and Geneva Irene Burcham Matthews.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Lou Matthews of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Darrin and Melissa Matthews of Cana; grandchildren, Graham Matthews and Clarice Matthews; sisters, Vera Semones of Hillsville and Gayle Amburn of Fancy Gap; and several special nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Melvin McGrady and Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
