Rayborn (Earl) Lyon, 85, of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Wheatland Hills Retirement Center. Mr. Lyon was born in Carroll County to the late Willie Cassell Lyon, Sr. and Virginia Iroler Lyon. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Opal Lyon. Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Robert (Bob) Lyon of Frisco, TX and Timothy and Rhonda Lyon of Roanoke; granddaughters, Catherine Lyon and Kimberly Lyon; brothers and sisters-in-law, W.C. and Kathleen Lyon, Sr. and Donald and Betty Lyon all of Hillsville; sisters and brother-in-law, Marie Melton of Hillsville and Freida Mae and James Beamer of Fancy Gap; and brother-in-law and spouse, Carl and Judy Delp of Galax. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Michael Shockley and Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF and AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family
