Ray Harding Tweed, 87, passed away on July 12, 2008 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax. He was born and raised in Greene County, TN. Mr. Tweed is survived by son and daughter-in-law Ronald & Jennie Tweed of Hillsville; daughter Beth Brooks of Hillsville; grandchildren and spouses John David & Amy Brooks, Kelli & Casey Adams; great grandchildren Jenna Bond, Hannah Brooks, Hayden Brooks; step-great granddaughter Josie Adams; sister Madge Gentry of Greeneville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 8:00 PM at the Hillsville First Baptist Church, with Dr. Lawrence Childs officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Newport, TN on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 PM immediately preceding the service. Military Rites will be conducted by Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to the First Baptist Church picnic shelter or to Gideon Memorial Bibles.
