Ray Martin, 72, of Hillsville, passed away on September 5, 2013. Mr. Martin was born in Carroll County to the late Rush Howard and Guida Largen Martin. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy B. Martin and a brother, James Martin. Survivors include his wife, Linda W. Martin of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Ronnie Sutphin of Hillsville and Kathy and Todd Simpson of Mount Airy, NC; step children, Lana Edmonds of Fancy Gap, Darrin Whittington and Aaron Whittington both of Woodlawn; two grandchildren, Logan Simpson and Paige Simpson; two step grandchildren, Joseph Jones and Nicole Jones; two step great grandchildren, Davan Jones and Laila Jones; brothers and sister-in-law, Kermit Martin of Culpepper, VA and Rush and Linda Martin of Jacksonville, FL; and sisters, Juanita Ervine and Vaunita Lamprinakos both of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Emma Lou Martin of Manassas Park, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Chip Neely and Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in the Isaac Banks Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
