R. Eugene Rotenizer, 73 of Galax, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at his home. Mr. Rotenizer was born in Carroll County to the late Elder Ray & Marie Rotenizer. Eugene was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. He was a successful insurance salesman and financial planner for over 50 years. He was also a veteran of the US Army and a college graduate. Eugene loved March Madness and had a great sense of humor.

Survivors include his sons & daughters-in-law David Eugene (Sarah) Rotenizer of Moundsville, WV, Jeffrey W. (Patricia) Rotenizer of Independence, VA, and Brent N. (Kimberley) Rotenizer of San Francisco, CA; brother & sister-in-law Willis & Emmy Rotenizer of Galax; two grandchildren Kelly Jean Rotenizer and Noah Nathaniel Rotenizer; great grandchild Kendall Ann Link; and step great grandchildren Emma Paige Hill and Joshua Hunter Hill.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Ronald Bowman and Rev. Kevin Fiorini officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery c/o Pat Dalton.
