Preston Wade Humphrey, 70 of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the SECU Hospice Center in Yadkinville.  Mr. Humphrey was born in Wythe County on June 21, 1953.  He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Humphrey; mother and stepfather, Lou Catron (Leonard Sr.); daughter, Larissa Humphrey; mother and father-in-law, Charles and Geraldine Henley; brother-in-law, William Henley; sister-in-law, Virginia Humphrey; nephew, Eric Grimes; and niece, Renee Grimes.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Wanda Henley Humphrey; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Amanda Humphrey; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Nelson Porter; grandchildren, Hunter and Leah Porter, and Conner, Collin, and Addison Humphrey; brothers, Allen Humphrey and Todd Catron; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vickie and Todd Gardner; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Larry Owens; uncles and aunts, Paul and Edria Humphrey, Archie Grimes, Harry and Edna Russell, and Eva Heldreth; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

The family would like to express a special "thank you" to Mountain Valley Hospice, family, friends, and church family for their care and support.  In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Mountain Valley Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastors Gerald Humphrey, Ronnie Isom and Glenn Burnett officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
