Phyllis Carole Nester, age 79 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2022 at Northern Hospital in Mount Airy, North Carolina. She was born on October 31, 1942.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Conduff and Cloie Dalton Nester; as well as brothers H.C. Bussie Nester and Tommy Nester.

She is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie Nester, Jean Surratt, Joan and Namon Strickland, and Rebecca and Sandy Hendrick; brother and sister-in-law, Bennie and Eva Sue Nester; sister-in-law, Darla W. Nester; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Crooked Oak Cemetery with Rev. Sandy Hendrick and Rev. Jeremy Hendrick officiating. The family will receive friends at Crooked Oak Baptist Church from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crooked Oak Missionary Baptist Church or to the Gideons. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
