Phillip Daniel Roberts, 51 of Fries, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Roberts was born in Galax to the late Foy Lee and Lena Mae Roberts. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Charles Roberts. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Roberts of the home; mother-in-law Evelyn Lois Goss of Laurel Fork; brothers and sisters-in-law and their spouses Dennis & Karen Goss of Rimersburg, PA, Ted & Cheryl Goss of Northeast, PA, Marla & William Bannier of St. Joseph, MO, and Brenda & John Horne of Check, VA; special niece and nephew Emily and Eric Horne; several other nieces and nephews; and special friends Evelyn Bilbrey and Julia Frazier.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Atkins Memorial Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Smythers and Rev. Winston Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in the Strock Gospel Chapel Cemetery in Laurel Fork. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Atkins Memorial Methodist Church from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
