Peerless Heath Underwood, 91 of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008. Mr. Underwood was born in Floyd County, VA to the late Everett & Dora Brim Underwood. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Susan Underwood. Mr. Underwood is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law Larry & Rhonda Underwood of Hillsville, Billy & Mary Underwood of Willis, Butch & Marie Underwood of Alum Ridge, VA and Ronnie (Sampson) & Robin Underwood of Meadows of Dan; daughters & sons-in-law Nora & Paul Martin of Hillsville, Linda & Pierce Lovell of Floyd and Brenda Burnett of Bryson City, NC; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; and special caregivers Freda Martin and Dr. John Tracy.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dewey Felts and Pastor Howard Nester officiating. Burial will follow in the Underwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday night from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
