Obituary

Pearl Smythers Frazier Smith, age 82, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at her home. She was born January 4, 1928 to Charlie and Hattie Alderman Smythers who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Luther J. Frazier and Walter K. Smith, Jr., a brother, Nile Smythers and a brother-in-law, Samuel Shupe. Survivors include a sister, Helen Reynolds and husband, R.J., a brother, Charles Smythers and wife, Shelby and a sister-in-law, Faye Smythers. Several beloved nieces and nephews also survive as well as special friends, Otis and Blanche Harmon and Pauline Arthur. Mrs. Smith was a retired teacher with 25 years experience in Carroll County Public Schools and a member of the Hillsville First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Hillsville with Rev. Ty Harrison, Rev. Ronnie Collins, and Rev. Johnny Briggs officiating. Mrs. Smith will lie in state at the church one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Friday, May 7, 2010 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
