Pauline "Polly" Cassell

Pauline “Polly” Eleanor Tankersly Cassell, 98 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows. Mrs. Cassell was born in Lee County, Virginia to the late Elbert Marlin and Mary Fletcher Tankersly. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Edgar Cassell; and a son, Terry Cassell.

Polly was a beloved member of Round Knob Missionary Baptist Church for over 25 years. She deeply loved her church family. Her husband, Emmitt was a World War II Veteran, and this made her very proud.

Survivors include her son, Michael Cassell; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister in heart, Mamie Sawyers; and friend and pastor, Bobby Webb.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 10:00 AM with Pastor Bobby Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 until 10:00 AM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Round Knob Missionary Baptist Church. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
