Pattie Leigh Nester Sumner, 77 of Austinville, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Lewis Gale in Pulaski. Mrs. Sumner was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Joseph Luta and Susie Gladys Joyce Nester. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Billy" Ray Sumner and a brother, Joseph Andrew Nester.

Pattie worked at Barkers and retired after 53 years of employment.

She is survived by her daughter, Jill Denise Sumner; sister, Betty Jean Clay; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Branscome and husband, Sammy, Barbara Sumner, and Pam Sumner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Ronald Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
