Owen Lee Mabe was born to the late Avis Delp Mabe and Oran L. Mabe in Galax, Virginia on July 22, 1935. Born and raised in Carroll County, he was a quiet but kind friend to all he met. In service to his country, he joined the Army at 20. After his return from the Army he found a career in the furniture industry and became a Nationally Certified Lumber Grader and a Certified Lumber Kiln Operator. After finishing an almost 40 year Lumber Industry career with several company, he finished at his favorite at Paul Goad Lumber. Upon retirement he enjoyed the next several years with Fleamarkets, Auctions, and adventures with his brother-in-law Eugene Horton.

Lee was blessed with a large and loving family. He fell in love with and married Elma Jean "Sissy" Horton Mabe. They loved each other for over 60 years and raised 5 children together.
Lee is survived by his children and their spouses; Debbie Sutphin, Miles Mabe, Sheila and Michael Pena, Eric and Lisa Mabe. His grandchildren and their spouses; Monica and Greg Cornett, Brandon Alderman, Travis Mabe, Cody Mabe, Brieanna Pena, Ariani and Ryan Huguenin, McKenna and Brett Phipps, and Chloe Pena. His step grandchildren Jeannie Coulson, and Susie and Flint Taylor. His great grandchildren; Sarah and Brad Alderman, Anna, Aylah, and
Emma Cornett, and Mya Mabe. His step great-grandchildren Dylan Coulson, Edin Taylor, Davis
Taylor, and Jalyn Coulson. His loving sister in-laws Vera Horton and Ruby Edwards. And many more family and friends.

Lee is preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents, his father and mother in-law John and Pearlie Horton, his grandson Joey Mabe, his son-in-law Doug Sutphin and his favorite dog of 20 years Flip Mabe.
