Ottie Clay Padgett, 89 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Padgett was born in Carroll County to the late Harrison & Myrtis Martin Padgett. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Ruby Hartsoe Padgett and siblings Patra Martin, Jim Padgett and Joe Padgett. Survivors include daughter & son-in-law Libby & Tim Whitaker of Dobson, NC; son Mitchell Padgett of Waxhaw, NC; step son & spouse David & Susan Hartsoe; sister Erthyl Dalton of Hillsville; brothers Guy R. Padgett of Hillsville and Don Padgett of Laurel Fork; sister-in-law Betty R. Padgett of Hillsville; five grandchildren & spouses Neil & Jennifer Tucker, Gideon & Crystal Padgett, Gregory & Caitlyn Padgett, Holly & Brandon Ferguson, and Heidi & John Brinson; eight great grandchildren; special friends Lacy & Melinda Cox & children and Maynard Joyce; and several nieces & nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Michael Shockley and Joey Padgett officiating. Inurnment will follow in Gardner Memorial Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday two hours before the memorial service.
