Oscar Jones "Jay" Auton, Jr. 67 of Austinville passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at his home. Mr. Auton was born in Boone, NC to the late Oscar and Annie Greene Auton. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers, James, Williard, and William Auton all of Boone, NC; and two sisters, Ruth Auton of Boone, NC and Lucille A. Fulbright of Hudson, NC. Surviving are his wife, Rosedna "Susie" Auton of the home; a son, Alfred D. Auton and wife, Melinda of Austinville; a daughter, Barbara Auton of Princeton, WV; a sister and brother-in-law, Margie and James Moretz of North Wilkesboro, NC; a sister-in-law, Shirley A. Critcher of Boone, NC; three grandchildren, Brittney, Dale, and Amber Auton of Austinville; two nieces; and nine nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church in Traphill, NC at 12:00 PM noon with Pastor Richie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
