Orbie Gene
Goad
May 20, 1948 – June 10, 2025
Orbie Goad, age 77 of Laurel Fork, has left the garage on June 10, 2025, this time for good. Anyone who ever went to his garage will remember the numerous post-it-notes left, telling you where he was and when he would be back. This is his last post-it-note.
Orbie Gene Goad was born May 20,1948. He lived his entire life in the Laurel Fork area. After being drafted during the Vietnam war in 1968, he trained to be a mechanic while serving in Germany. After his time in service to his country, he returned home where he worked in various jobs in construction and auto repair, before opening Orbie's Garage in beautiful downtown Laurel Fork. Orbie was very proud of the work he had done and what he had accomplished in his lifetime, having started with nothing.
Born to Harvey and Myrtle Goad, Orbie is survived by a sister, Joyce, several cousins, special nieces, Kayla Peery Nugent and Lauren Peery. Special friend Judy Smith. He is also survived by those who he referred to as his "ex-laws" Donna, Debby (Gary), Delilah and his designated uber driver and brother he never had, Tom Peery.
Orbie was one of a kind and will be missed by many
A celebration of life and remembrance will be held on Thursday June 12, 2025 from 6-8pm at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady is in charge of the arrangements.
