Opal Virginia McPeak Goad, 102 of Woodlawn, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at her home. She was born in Carroll County to the late James Enoch and Rene Goad McPeak. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Earnest Goad; sisters, Ella Dickerson, Lola Nester, Inez Dalton, Martha McGrady, Alta Turman, and Oka Turman; and brothers, Aube McPeak, Hayes McPeak, Rush McPeak and Shirley McPeak.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Harold Vass and Joyce and Dale Cagle; son and daughter-in-law, Elmon and Karen Goad; five grandchildren and spouses, Aaron and Angela Vass, Stephen and Ann Cagle, Joel and Cora Cagle, Vanessa and Brant Bottomley, and Gerald and Cleo Goad; seven great-grandchildren and spouse, Arianna and David Slate, Alyssa Vass, Owen Cagle, Emmett Cagle, Logan Bottomley, Seth Bottomley and Liam Goad; two great-great-grandchildren, Samuel Slate and Evelyn Slate; sister-in-law, Florence McPeak; special nephew and spouse, Carl and Willa Turman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 Am with Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Walter Goad Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to Mountain Valley Hospice. V aughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
