Opal Ortense Davis Martin, 86, of Woodlawn, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Martin was born in Carroll County to the late Albert Jonathan and Sarah Charity Edwards Davis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Martin.

Survivors include her son, Ulus Wayne Martin and wife, Judy of Galax; daughters, Brenda Martin Sanchez of Woodlawn and Karen Martin Crouse of Mt. Airy, NC and husband, Homer of Sparta, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Winford and Betty Davis of Mt. Airy, NC; eight grandchildren and spouses, Missie and Marty Secrest of Fancy Gap, Marc and Shannon Hicks of Hillsville, Jennifer and Joel Marlow of Sparta, NC, Destiny Crouse of Sparta, NC, Whitney Crouse of Sparta, NC, Kathy and Chad Cox of Galax, Vanessa and Robbie Redd of Hillsville, and Triston and Jennifer Martin of Independence; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, Judy, Tina and Dorothy.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Pastor Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Isaac Banks Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
