Opal M. Branscome, 91, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Mrs. Branscome was born in Carroll County to the late John Fernando and Lina Sumners Matthews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Branscome and five brothers, Boyd, Thomas, Clarence, Gene, and Earl Matthews. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
