Opal Merlene Goad Alderman, 86 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at her home. Mrs. Alderman was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Ellis and Lila Beatice Dalton Goad. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Alderman; and daughter, Dalva Alderman. She retired from Sprague Electric.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Myers; son-in-law, Willis Myers; two grandchildren, Ryan and Kayla Myers; and four sisters, Iomgene Nester, Iverybell Dalton, Betty Carter and Ann Akers.

A gathering at the graveside will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Gardner Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 PM. The family requests no flowers, food, nor donations be made and instead ask that people express farewells and thoughts in their own way. The family also wants to thank everyone.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
