Ollis "Button" Colen Hawks, 64 of Cana, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at his home.  Mr. Hawks was born in Carroll County on January 23, 1960.  He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Helen Hawks Edwards and Chester Edwards; and an uncle, Robert "Bob" Hawks.

Survivors include wife, Susan Hawks of the home; son, Kevin Hawks of Mt. Airy, NC; daughters, Kalena Tate (Ashley Steele) of Cana, Matrisha Gwynn (Jason) of Ararat, Amanda Jordan of Galax, and Vicky Hale of Cana; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; aunts, Sally Farris and Polly Hawks, both of Cana; and uncle, Earl Hawks (Pat) of Low Gap.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Hope Community Church in Cana at 2:00 PM with Pastor Anthony Thomas and Elder VJ Hawks officiating.  Burial will follow in the Edwards Cemetery on Sandy Ridge Church Road in Cana.  The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
