Olene Myers Thompson, 85, of Austinville, VA passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, VA.

Olene was born in Carroll County on March 4, 1932 to Harrison Currell Myers and Louise Bays Myers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald "Hoss" Thompson; father, Harrison Currell and mother, Louise Bays Myers.

Survivors include sisters, Ollie Newman, Juanita Stone, Bonnie and husband, Ray Burnette, all of Austinville, VA, and Frances and husband, Billy Mabe of Max Meadows, VA; several loving nieces, nephews and many friends; and double first cousins, Dorse Myers, Betty Parnell, and Jack Myers, all of Martinsville, VA and Barbara Surratt of Radford, VA. Olene is also survived by brother-in-law, Maynard and wife, Elaine Thompson of Ridgeway, VA and sisters-in-law, Crystal Lamont of Charlotte, NC and Nancy Trent of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Olene spent most of her adult life in Martinsville before retiring after 39 years working as a lab technician at Dupont. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Martinsville.

The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, VA on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at noon with Pastor Robert Smith and Associate Pastor Danny Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in the Myers Family Cemetery. In lieu flowers, donations can be made to the Myers Family Cemetery, 6195 Coulson Church Road, Austinville, VA 24312. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
