Olene Kathryn Horton, 85, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Horton was born on February 9, 1930 in Carroll County to the late Benjamin Harrison and Nettie Dickens Goad. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clinton H. Horton of Hillsville and daughter, Peggy Horton Sumner of Fancy Gap. Mrs. Horton is survived by daughter, Mary Cochran of Christiansburg, daughter & son-in-law, Betty and Billy Smith of Hillsville, daughter, Phyllis van Heezick-Horton of the Netherlands, son and daughter-in-law Clinton and Barbara Horton of Burke, son-in-law and wife, Kenneth and Terri Sumner of Fancy Gap, sister Jean Sharpe of Galax, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Wendell Horton officiating.There will be no visitation. Burial will follow in the Dr. Jesse Dickens Cemetery.Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
