Norine Hylton Horton, 89 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Salem Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Horton was born in Floyd County to the late Sherman & Nora Hylton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Hemon Horton; brothers & spouses Ferry & Odell Hylton, Odie & Lela Hylton, Moy & Inez Hylton, Unice and Vada Hylton and Vasco Hylton; brothers-in-law Ralph Ferguson and Dennis Wills; sisters & spouses Nitaree & Troy Weeks and Wada Lee & Don Star and son-in-law Don Gress. She is survived by her daughter Fran Gress of Salem; granddaughters & spouses Vicki & Will Kiger of Richmond and Robin & Dean Ricker of Craig County; great grandchildren Abigail Ricker, Lainey Kiger, Luke Kiger, and Henry Kiger; sisters Etholene Wills of Lynchburg and June Ferguson of Winston Salem, NC; sister-in-law Pauline Hylton; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hortons family would like to express their deep appreciation and thanks to the wonderful and supportive staff at Salem Health and Rehab.

A funeral service with burial following will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
